how to prepare personal development plan?

I need to have general understanding about preparation of personal development plans for a company. It is a part of Human Resourse development.

Very generally by looking at

1) the skills you have now

and then detailing the gaps between this and

2) the skills needed to fulfill your job description
3) the skills neeeded to keep abreast of changes/updates to your job
4) the skills needed to move towards aspirations you hold in your job

and then working out a plan for addressing these gaps.
Very often, in assessing your current skills, tools like appraisals and 360 degree feedback can be useful

How can you ensure your personal development goals are realistic and achievable?

No matter what your goals are, they are possible and achievable. The only limitations you have are the ones you set for yourself.

I recommend you check out this social networking community called LetsReflect.com. There are people there going through situations similar to yours. They are great for advice and encouragement.

The process of Self Reflection has truly changed my life….here’s my profile. http://www.letsreflect.com/profile.php?userid=6

This is a journey….not a quick fix. The trick is staying positive and surrounding yourself with positive people. You are capable of great things! I believe in you. Best of luck.

Do you have to make positive thinking a habit?

I find sometimes it’s difficult not to give in to negative thoughts and feelings. It’s almost like I have to struggle and force myself to think positively. Sometimes negative thoughts about past mistakes take over my thinking and make everything seem more gloomy. Have you dealt with this yourself or do you know someone who deals with this?

Yes it does take practice to change the pattern of negative thinking into positive. It sounds like you are doing things right though – you recognise when you are thinking negatively and you conciously replace those thoughts with positive ones. Dont worry , it does get easier , it becomes completely natural. The hardest part is breaking the habit of negative thinking – which you are going through now.
If past mistakes are making this hard for you, try looking at the mistakes differently – what good things came from those mistakes? did you learn something about yourself? did those mistakes make you stronger? did other oportunities pop up that might not have if you had not made those mistakes?
For starters – it seems that some of these ‘mistakes’ may have made you aware of your negative thinking patterns, and the need to change them – that in itself is a little gem of wisdom you have gained from those experiences.
Inspirational quotes can be very helpful while going through the shift from negative to positve thinking.
All the best.

Why does negative thinking come naturally, but positive thinking takes effort?

For me, and for every person I’ve ever met – except for those in denial, insane, or on anti-depressants, our natural resting state seems to focus towards the negative, worst-case-scenario thinking rather than the positive, everything will be amazing, thinking. Why should this be? For me personally, my life-experience should lead me to feel grateful for what I have rather than always expect the worse and feel jealous of anyone who has more than me without working for it.
Are humans born with catastrophic brains, as a survival mechanism based on preparing for the worst in our caves?

Hi. I am always waiting for the other shoe to drop. I am also waiting for large chunks of the sky to fall down on my head and around my ears. But of course I have a psychosis, so maybe I don’t count? It could be paranoia on my part. Or I could be a really smart crazy person. But let me tell you what I saw today, just a few minutes ago sitting outside in the sun – a cloud as big as a man’s hand. I said to my husband, "Oh dear, there is a cloud as big as a man’s hand. Do you think It is a Bad Omen?" He said I would probably know more about that than he would. So I decided that really it wasn’t so bad and that to be Positive and Upbeat I would just come inside and eat lunch.

Motivation to answer?

Read something on a profile that made me wonder…what is YOUR personal motivation to answer questions here? And how do you decide which questions you want to answer? What process do you use or go through?

personally the only reason i answer questions is so that if i want to ask a question, i can have enough points to ask. and i ask a lot of questions. to answer your second question: i decide which questions i want to answer by thinking. like if i can answer well enough i’ll try it

ways to promote motivation?

help! i need motivation (personal motivation for things such as sustaining a healthy body, keep my mind moving, and desire to complete hw assignments with minimum procrastination )

the more you procrastinate the more likely the chances are you will have to repeat this class and hang back another semester while others in your class move on to bigger and better things.

Which brand new head coach will have the earliest and most success?

I mean in the NFL. BTW, I think Washington, it may be biased, but they have a lot of good players but just need a steady o-line.
I’m talking about new coaches this offseason, i.e. Washington -Shanahan, Seattle – Carroll, Buffalo – Gailey

I’d like to say Carroll and my Hawks, but they won’t be good for awhile. Shanahan is the man, but his new team is also shaky, but stronger than Seattle’s. Buffalo is bad too. Old-school Shanny wins.
