#89 Success Coaching and the Medal of Freedom – Boaz Power TV

____ http://boazpower.com ____(August 4, 2003)

The highest civilian award in the United States is the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Established by President Truman in 1945 to recognize service in the war, the medal was reintroduced in 1963 by President Kennedy as an honor for distinguished civilian service in peacetime.

The Medal of Freedom is awarded annually by the President of the United States to individuals selected by him or recommended to him by the Distinguished Civilian Service Awards Board. There were 11 recipients of the award in 2003. One of them is the subject of this column. He has become a symbol for success and leadership.

Born In Martinsville, Indiana on October 14, 1910, former UCLA basketball coach John Wooden was influenced greatly by his father. His dad said the following to John, Always try to be the very best that you can be. Learn from others, yes. But dont just try to be better than they are. You have no control over that. Instead, try, and try very hard, to be the best that you can be. That you have control over. Maybe youll be better than someone else and maybe you wont. That part of it will take care of itself.

When he was eight years old, Wooden first learned about basketball. That was in 1918, just 27 years after the invention of the game. Living on a farm as a child, he stuffed a pair of his mothers hose with rags and formed a ball. Young John would take shots at a tomato basket that his father had nailed to a wall in their barn. From this humble beginning, Wooden would later become a collegiate hero.

With his fathers philosophy as his foundation, John Wooden became a record-setting college basketball coach and an exceptional teacher. His UCLA Bruins won 10 National Championships in 12 years. He taught a unique measure of discipline, character, and work ethic.

According to Wooden, Success is peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming. His teachings were based on his Pyramid of Success 15 personal attributes that build on each other.

Woodens Pyramid had five important concepts as its foundation: Industriousness, friendship, loyalty, cooperation and enthusiasm. Moving up the Pyramid, there were the following traits: Self-control, alertness, initiative, intentness, condition, skill, team spirit, poise and confidence. At the top of his Pyramid, when all the other traits were in order, Wooden placed competitive greatness.

His leadership skills did indeed lead to competitive greatness in his life and for his teams. Before becoming the most successful coach in college basketball history, Wooden was a very successful player. He had an All-State career at Martinsville High School. At Purdue University, he was called the Indiana Rubber Man for his suicidal dives on the court.

In 1932 Wooden was named College Player of the Year as Purdue won the national championship. He enjoyed a brief but successful semi-pro career before turning his complete attention to coaching. He was a high school coach in South Bend, Indiana, before serving in the U.S. Navy as a lieutenant in World War II. Following the war, he was Indiana State Universitys athletic director, coaching both basketball and baseball teams.

Once at UCLA, Woodens basketball program gained a worldwide reputation for being rated number one so many times. Included in UCLAs 10 Championships in 12 years was one of the most amazing winning
Streaks in sports, 38 straight NCAA tournament victories. His teams had four perfect 30-0 seasons, 88 consecutive victories, and 20 PAC 10 championships.

Wooden dedicated his life to basketball and was voted Coach of the Year six times. His perseverance and endurance were legendary. He is one of only two people enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame as both a player and a coach. When he retired from basketball coaching in 1975, his teams had won 885 games, and had only 203 losses, over a 40 year span. He coached numerous players who became stars in the NBA.

John Woodens definition of success, as noted earlier, is so simple and yet so powerful: Success is peace of mind that is the direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming.

He further stated, The real contest, of course, is striving to reach your personal best, and that is totally under your control. When you have achieved that, you have achieved success. Period! You are a winner and only you fully know if you won.

What a profound lesson in life and in personal success. Lets focus on John Woodens excellent thoughts and see if we can score a few extra points in our own game of life.

A Daily Championship Affirmation

I always strive to reach my personal best. I am a winner.

Lucrative MLM Success Secrets Revealed

Success is defined as the favorable or prosperous outcome of attempts or endeavors. It can be fast or slow but must be continual in order to accomplish goals. With regards to mlm, success is quantified as a group statistic hence the first letter of the acronym “mlm.” It’s possible to have individual goals and to succeed at achieving them but to be truly successful with mlm you must have a team of successful people to surround yourself and share with.

What motivates people though? What truly moves them and encourages their success? Most people get involved with mlm for the opportunity of financial freedom but while they know they’re at point A and they have an idea of where point B should be, they have no idea how to get there. That’s why such a big emphasis is placed on the role a sponsor plays in the experiences of his/her downline. I’ve found that personal success drives the ones closest to you and when everyone around you is succeeding it’s an uplifting feeling that can be very contagious.

As far as what works, I’ve found audio/video to be a great tool. Take music for example, certain songs make us feel certain ways and even seeing specific behaviors or emotions can be altering as well. There are phenomenal speakers that make a living solely by inspiring, motivating, mentoring and teaching others. You can find some videos like this at http://powerful5.com/coaching.htm and the benefit to using audio/video is that this method is passive. You can even do the speaking yourself just to personalize experiences. Speaking on your own allows others to notice your knowledge and comfort with what’s being discussed and “vibes” play a huge role in marketing and presenting which leads to the next point.

Knowledge is also a very influential tool. Being perceived as knowledgeable is a priceless attribute for anyone who works with others. We know this because you would only ask a car question to someone who knows about cars, right? You find out who knows about cars, whether it’s by word of mouth, advertisement etc., and you ask them your questions based on their level of knowledge on the topic. As the conversation goes on the questioner has their thirst for answers satisfied and walks away from the conversation feeling a little more educated. Also, the person answering the questions is able to almost determine and even predict every next move the questioner may make. Think of it the opposite way as well. When someone seems like they lack knowledge doesn’t it discourage your desire to move forward with them? So while mlm is a group effort for success, it’s not a bad idea to start with the person in the mirror when it comes to knowledge. You’ll find that it your knowledge will benefit others at first and will soon benefit you just as a byproduct.

Conference calls are another proven way to drive success. It’s a time-old method but it’s still around for so many reasons. Conference calls allow anonymity giving listeners an added level of comfort from their own home. The calls can be organized for free and they actually encompass all of the previous methods discussed. Also, you can fit a lot of people onto one call and power comes with numbers. Wouldn’t you be more likely to participate in something if everyone else around you is participating? The call will allow you to share your own personal testimonial and it will be an important avenue of communication due to it’s efficient nature. Plus, as your network gets larger so will the group of listeners.

You may find the above suggestions to be extremely beneficial and it’s my pleasure to provide them. With your success in mind, I’ll get started on the next composition but in the meantime this article should be sufficient in improving your success rate for now. If there’s a topic you’d like to see an article on, please request it as my contact info is in my profile.

How far is musical education vital to personal development?

Who has the answer….?

Music helps to heal a great many things within ourselves. Its like the lit candle of awareness in an otherwise dark conciousness.Something that some cling to because its their only friend or their piece of hope left to them. For some its a desire and for others its a passion. And for many many its a strength unto itself it does what other things can not such as evoke memories, create moments, and unify a great many all at once.
When a woman is pregnant they tell her to play music or even sing to the unborn baby. Not just so the baby will recognize her voice but also to stimulate the baby. They say playing music to an unborn baby helps them mentally develope and grow. When my daughter was in my belly we did in fact play her classical music and she had her favorites she would roll inside of me and kick me and some music would put her right to sleep. It was a stimuli for her the lit candle of awareness in an otherwise dark conciousness.
Some say it isn’t vital but could you imagine a world without music?Could you imagine a world where people didn’t further their knowledge of music or pushed themselves to go deeper into their own music?I certainly couldn’t and I don’t think those who have a true gift given to them such as instruments or words that create the flow of songs or even those who just hear the music itself or those who were born to sing.
I think its vital to all of us.And especially those who truly feel the passion to learn more for those gifted enough to be more.I think its vital to ALL personal development but we are individuals and the choice to know more is singularly ours…

Just My Thoughts,
M.G

What do you think are your priorities in your own personal development?

How do you think you personally will judge whether you have been successful in your life? What aspects of life will you consider?

develoopment of talents, and interpersonal skills .
I think I will wonder how successful i have been, rather than whether successful or not.
I will consider personal relationships, family/friends, and how far I have developed my talents.
